Levoit and Blueair are exclusively focused on producing air purifiers. Both manufacturers are known for their reliable and high-quality products, which is why they are so popular and frequently compared by customers.
In this comparison, I will evaluate the Blueair 211+ and Levoit Vital 100 air purifiers. My initial thought is that this comparison may seem unfair because the Blueair is a significantly larger and more powerful air purifier than the Levoit. However, factors such as price, energy consumption, filter quality, and other specifications can often affect the final decision.
The Blueair 211+ covers rooms up to 540 sq. ft. (50 m²), while the Levoit Vital 100 is designed for smaller spaces, covering up to 300 sq. ft. (28 m²). In terms of size, the Blueair is much larger than the Levoit, with bigger filters and, logically, a higher CADR.
The Blueair is made from a combination of metal and plastic. It features a fibrous pre-filter available in five colors, making it modern and easily adaptable to almost any environment. On the other hand, the Levoit is constructed entirely of plastic, but the build quality is excellent. It comes in white and gray and also has a sleek, modern appearance.
I will compare all the specifications of these two devices, including noise levels, performance, power usage, and other features, to determine which air purifier is the better choice.
Our Verdict
From the very beginning, it was clear that this wouldn’t be a particularly difficult battle, and I wouldn’t have a tough decision to make.
Although the Blueair 211+ is slightly more expensive upfront and a bit louder at its lowest speed, I prefer it over the Levoit Vital 100.
The Blueair 211+ performed much better in our particle removal and smoke tests, has a drastically higher CADR, features a washable pre-filter, and is a slightly more efficient power consumer.
The Levoit Vital 100 is also a high-quality air purifier that I would recommend if you are looking for a product for a smaller space, such as a bedroom, kids’ room, or a similar area. However, in all other situations, my recommendation goes to the Blueair 211+.

Performance Test – Comparison
When comparing the room coverage of these two air purifiers, it’s clear that the Blueair 211+ has a significant advantage due to its ability to cover larger spaces. However, the Levoit Vital 100 also performed excellently in our tests.
The Blueair 211+ has a CADR of 350 CFM (595 m³/h), while the Levoit Vital 100 has a CADR of 130 CFM (221 m³/h). Based on these specifications, we tested them in rooms of different sizes as well as in one room of the same size.
In a test conducted in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room, we placed both air purifiers separately and measured their efficiency in removing airborne particles using a Temtop laser particle meter.
The Levoit Vital 100 improved the air quality by 93%, while the Blueair 211+ achieved an improvement of 96%.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Levoit Vital 100 Vs Blueair 211+ in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
Additionally, we tested them in two more rooms. In a 560 sq. ft. (52 m²) room, the Blueair improved air quality by 92%, while in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room, the Levoit Vital 100 improved air quality by 95%.
Overall, both air purifiers perform exceptionally well in their recommended room sizes, but the Blueair 211+ outperformed the Levoit and is, overall, a more efficient air purifier.
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
I didn’t expect anything less than for the Blueair 211+ to achieve a much better result in the smoke test compared to the Levoit.
As expected, the Blueair 211+ performed three times faster. It cleared all the smoke from the glass box in just 11 seconds, while the Levoit Vital 100 took 33 seconds.
This significantly better result is due to the Blueair’s much higher CADR and larger filter. Even though the Levoit uses a pellet-based carbon filter and the Blueair uses a fibrous filter coated with carbon, the Levoit simply couldn’t compete in this test.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
When it comes to testing the noise levels of these two devices, I have to say that neither air purifier stands out especially. Neither the Blueair nor the Levoit has a sleep mode, but the Levoit is quiet enough at its lowest speed to be suitable for use in bedrooms.
The Levoit produces a noise level of 41.9 dBA, while the Blueair 211+ produces 43.9 dBA.
Noise Levels - Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Levoit Vital 100 Vs Blueair 211+ air purifiers.
We can say that both are relatively quiet at their lowest speeds. However, at maximum speeds, the situation is quite different. The Levoit Vital 100 produces a sound of 63.4 dBA, while the Blueair 211+ is slightly quieter at 59.7 dBA.
The issue with the Blueair is that it produces an irritating noise at maximum speed, which can be quite bothersome. So, even though the Levoit is a bit louder at maximum speed, it produces a more pleasant sound.
Fan Speed | Levoit Vital 100 (dBA) | Blueair 211+ (dBA) |
---|---|---|
Speed 1 (Low) | 41.9 dBA | 43.9 dBA |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 51.1 dBA | 51.2 dBA |
Speed 3 (High) | 63.4 dBA | 59.7 dBA |
In my opinion, the Levoit Vital 100 is quieter overall and uses a better-optimized motor than the Blueair 211+.
Operating Costs – Comparison
Before even comparing the power consumption of these two air purifiers, I was certain that the Blueair 211+ would be much more expensive to operate.
However, despite having a 61W motor, which is larger than the 55W motor of the Levoit Vital 100, the Blueair 211+ is actually more energy-efficient.
Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison
Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Levoit Vital 100 Vs Blueair 211+ air purifiers at all fan speeds.
The Blueair 211+ uses 49W at maximum speed, while the Levoit uses 57.9W. This means that if you were to run both air purifiers at their maximum speeds, 24 hours a day for one month, your electricity bill would increase by $5.08 for the Levoit Vital 100 and by $4.29 for the Blueair 211+.
In addition to power costs, there is also the expense of replacement filters, which need to be replaced approximately twice per year for both air purifiers and are slightly more expensive for the Blueair.
Fan Speed | Levoit Vital 100 (W + $/month) | Blueair 211+ (W + $/month) |
---|---|---|
Standby | 0.2W ($0.01) | 0.2W ($0.01) |
Speed 1 (Low) | 22.1W ($1.94) | 15W ($1.31) |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 33.7W ($2.95) | 36W ($3.15) |
Speed 3 (High) | 57.9W ($5.08) | 49W ($4.29) |
Therefore, when considering both filter replacement and electricity consumption, the Levoit Vital 100 is only slightly cheaper to maintain annually compared to the Blueair 211+.
Filtration Technology
I already mentioned at the beginning that these are two very high-quality air purifiers with outstanding and very efficient filters.
Both devices use 3-stage filtration technology. However, Blueair has HEPASilent technology as the 4th filtration stage. HEPASilent is essentially an ionizer, which is always on. Fortunately, the device is CARB certified, which means that it does not produce an unallowed amount of ozone and is entirely safe to use.
The first filtration stage on both devices is the pre-filter, which is washable on Blueair. The second stage of filtration on Blueair is the particle filter, while on Levoit, it is the activated carbon filter. The third filtration stage on Levoit is the True HEPA filter, while on Blueair, it is a fibrous filter coated with carbon.
I prefer Levoit’s True HEPA filter, which is basically the essential and most deserving filtration stage. In addition, I think Levoit has a better quality carbon filter, especially since it is pellet-based.
In essence, both devices use high-quality filters, which is confirmed by the fantastic results in performance tests.
How to Replace Filters of These Two Air Purifiers?
I already mentioned that the Blueair 211+ uses a washable pre-filter, and it’s the only filter that doesn’t need to be changed. Other filters on both devices are not washable and need to be changed from time to time.
Filters on Levoit last on average between 6-8 months, while on Blueair, they last about 6 months.
The good thing about both devices is that they have a filter reset indicator, which means you don’t have to track when it’s time to replace the filter because the filter reset indicator will light up as a warning to replace old filters.
You can find the filter replacement process for the Levoit Vital 100 and Blueair 211+ on the links below.
Features Overview
In essence, Levoit Vital 100 and Blueair 211+ are completely contrasting air purifiers. Levoit is equipped with advanced options that are practical in the everyday use of the device. At the same time, Blueair is an entirely minimalistic air purifier that uses only one button for control, and it has almost no advanced options.
The only Blueair-specific option that is also available on Levoit is the filter reset indicator, which will let you know when it’s time to replace the old filters.
Also, Blueair remembers the last used speed and gets turned on as soon as it comes in contact with electricity. This means that you can easily connect this air purifier with a smart plug and thus make it semi-smart.
Timer
The timer is a very useful option available only on the Levoit Vital 100 air purifier. In essence, the timer allows you to set the time after which the air purifier will turn off.
On the Vital 100, the timer can be set to 2h, 4h, or 8h.
Display Off
Display Off is also a beneficial option, which is not available on the Blueair 211+. This option is used to turn off all the indicators on the device in one click.
This feature can be handy if you use an air purifier in the bedroom and if you can’t bear any lighting at night.
Airflow
From the first encounter with these two air purifiers and a look at their construction, it is clear that they have a completely different airflow.
The Blueair 211+ draws in air at the bottom through openings spread on all sides, while the Levoit Vital 100 draws air in through the front. The air is then filtered and exits through openings at the top, the same for both air purifiers.
Warranty
When it comes to warranty, there is not much difference as both Levoit and Blueair offer a 2-year warranty on these two air purifiers.
What I would recommend to everyone is to register the device on the manufacturer’s website immediately after purchase.
