There are very few wall-mountable air purifiers on the market, which is very small compared to the range of other air purifiers. In addition, almost every air purifier I have tried so far that can be hung on the wall can also be used as a standard air purifier.
To be honest, I prefer standard air purifiers, but for the purposes of this text and also because I wanted to see what the pros and cons of putting an air purifier on the wall are, I used a few of the suggested wall-mounted ones a few weeks ago and tested how they behave. So in the picture below, you can see how I put the Aura Air on the wall in the small living room I usually use for filming most of the air purifiers I review.
Table of Contents
What I think is interesting about wall-mounted air purifiers is the space-saving, which is crucial in some smaller rooms or apartments. Basically, when you hang it on the wall, it will work, cleaning the air for you, and you will hardly notice it or even bother with it. But it’s not all excellent. Suppose you want to mount an air purifier on the wall. In that case, you have to drill holes in the wall, which means you have to destroy the wall, and if you ever decide not to use the device anymore, you are left with holes in the wall.
In short, so as not to bore you with an introduction, I will say that after a detailed analysis, testing, and review of the various air purifiers, I have come up with a list of the top 5 that you can hang on the wall. Read on to find out which devices made a list.

The RabbitAir MinusA2 is a modern, luxurious, reliable air purifier that is, in my opinion, the best wall-mounted air purifier currently on the market.
This air purifier covers rooms up to 278 sq. ft.; in a room of these dimensions, it will clean the air 4.8 times in one hour. The RabbitAir MinusA2 uses high-quality filtration technology consisting of 6 layers: a permanent pre-filter, a medium filter, a HEPA filter, a custom filter, an activated carbon filter, and an ionizer. Such high-quality filters are the reason for the excellent performance and one of the biggest reasons why RabbitAir is on this list. It is also characteristic of this air purifier and extremely important to mention the long-lasting filters that last up to 2 years.
As far as advanced options are concerned, this air purifier has plenty of them, and as well as being able to control some of the options directly on the device, there is also a remote control, as well as the option to connect to a smartphone app. The option that I definitely like the most is the advanced air quality sensor, which detects particles and odors, and the light sensor, which detects light and works in combination with the sleep mode.
The RabbitAir MinusA2 air purifier has a sleek and modern design that would fit well in any home. It is a wall-mounted air purifier and can easily hang on a wall using the included mounting hardware. The relatively slim and compact unit makes it easy to fit into smaller spaces or tight corners. The Medify MA-35 is a very interesting air purifier that resembles an electric heater at first glance. It has a sleek and modern design that fits most home decor styles. It has mounting hardware for attaching it to the wall, but it can also be placed on the floor like a traditional air purifier. This is another air purifier that deservedly found its place on this list.
The Medify Air MA-35 covers rooms up to 253 sq. ft., and it will clean the air 4.8 times in one hour in a room of the recommended dimensions. Although this air purifier was initially designed to be hung on the wall, it is possible to purchase an accessory that allows you to use it on the floor, like almost all conventional air purifiers.
MA-35 uses 4-stage filtration technology: a pre-filter, True HEPA filter, activated carbon filter, and UV-C light. There are not many advanced options, but enough for optimal everyday use. I think a smart app would be a real addition to this device.
All in all, the Medify MA-35 is an excellent device that efficiently tackles bad air in your home, and I would recommend buying it.

- Aura Air uses a motor with a power of only 34W, making it a very low-power consumer.
- This air purifier comes with a 1-year warranty.
The Aura Air is an innovative air purifier with an unusual look and some principles that I’m not used to seeing in other air purifiers. The first thing I noticed that sets this air purifier apart is the fact that you cannot use it unless you connect it to a smart app. This means that to use Aura Air optimally, you need to have an Android or iOS smartphone on which you need to install the smart app. Basically, this air purifier doesn’t have the option to use any options directly on the device. You need to use the smart app for everything.
The option that I like about this device is the high-quality air quality sensor. It is designed for rooms up to 325 sq. ft., and in a room of this size, it will clean the air 4.8 times in one hour. It is powered by a 34W engine and comes with a 1-year warranty.

IKEA FÖRNUFTIG – Best Budget
IKEA FÖRNUFTIG Highlights
- IKEA FÖRNUFTIG is a small air purifier that covers rooms up to 108 sq. ft.
- This air purifier uses a three-stage filtration technology consisting of a washable pre-filter, a HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter.
- IKEA FÖRNUFTIG uses an engine with a power of only 19W, so your electricity bill won’t increase much.
- Unfortunately, IKEA does not offer a warranty on this air purifier.
IKEA entered the air purifier market some time ago with some exciting models. I tested the IKEA FÖRNUFTIG, which is also their first and most successful model. It is a small air purifier that is very friendly and stylish, in line with the IKEA furniture line. It is designed for rooms up to 108 sq. ft. and uses 3-stage filtration technology, the last stage being an activated carbon filter, which is purchased separately and is not included with the device. Perhaps one of the biggest drawbacks of this air purifier is that it does not have a True HEPA filter. Filters last, on average, 4-6 months.
However, the IKEA FÖRNUFTIG performed very well in all tests, so when you add to that the very affordable price and the easy maintenance, this is an excellent device. IKEA has no advanced options. It is entirely minimalistic; it only has a filter reset indicator. However, as it uses a mechanical wheel to change the fan speed, you can simply plug it into a smart plug.
Hanging it on the wall won’t be a problem; you only need a drill and a screwdriver. Screws and everything else required for mounting are included with the device.
In fact, the IKEA FÖRNUFTIG is my absolute recommendation if you are looking for a wall-mounted air purifier that delivers good performance, is modern, easy to maintain, and, at the same time, very affordable.

Medify MA-45 Highlights
- The Medify Air MA-45 is an air purifier designed for rooms up to 325 sq. ft.
- It uses a four-stage filtration technology consisting of a pre-filter, True HEPA H13 filter, activated carbon filter, and UV-C light.
- It uses an engine with a power of only 45W, so this air purifier won’t add much to your electricity bill either.
- Medify has the option of a lifetime warranty with a subscription for replacement filters directly from their website.
Medify is a brand focused exclusively on producing air purifiers. I have to say that they have a wide variety of devices in their range. The Medify MA-45 is a slightly newer model in the Medify range, which is also wall-mounted.
I initially liked this model’s extremely sleek and modern design. In addition, the Medify MA-45 is designed for rooms up to 325 sq. ft. and is identical to the Aura Air air purifier, which also found its place on the list. It uses four-stage filtration technology. The first stage of filtration is a pre-filter, the second stage is a True HEPA filter, the third stage is an activated carbon filter, and the last stage is UV-C light. The filters last, on average, 3-4 months. There are a few advanced options, but it has a timer, child lock, filter reset indicator, and remote control.
The MA-45 is CARB-certified, which means it does not produce illegal amounts of ozone and is entirely safe to use. The Medify MA-45 is a modern, stylish, and, most importantly, very efficient air purifier, which is why it is my recommendation and why it is on the list of the best wall-mounted air purifiers.

Advantages of a Wall-Mounted Air Purifier
Since you’ve already been exploring wall-mounted air purifiers, I’m sure you’re familiar with the benefits of using these devices. In addition to the primary benefits that most air purifiers have, such as filtration and neutralization of dust particles, allergens, pet odors, smoke odors, and similar pollutants, wall-mounted air purifiers have a few additional benefits.
Space saving
The fact that the air purifier is not floor-mounted but wall-mounted is enough to conclude that these devices save a lot of space in the household. In fact, by mounting the air purifier on the wall, you leave a lot of space in the house for some other products that may not have as much space. This is a significant advantage for small homes or if you have an unused wall that you don’t know what to do with.
Unrestricted airflow
These devices suck in contaminated air, which is then purified and returned to the room. That’s why furniture, a build-up of stuff, or other objects can block the airflow of standard air purifiers. However, if the air purifier is mounted on the wall, this potential problem is drastically reduced.
Safety
Air purifiers use fans with brush engines that rotate at high speeds, which means that young children and anyone else must be careful not to stick a finger or object through the air vents, as this can injure themselves or possibly damage the unit. This makes the air purifier on the wall one less worry and a big one out of reach for small children.
Set it and forget it
An air purifier installed like this is a very small disruption to your daily life. I’m sure most days you won’t even notice it’s there. An added benefit is if the device has an automatic mode, which means you can turn it on in this mode and leave it running without having to touch it or make any further adjustments, but only to change the filters when it’s time.
Aesthetics
Some air purifiers, such as the RabbitAir MinusA2, offer front masks in different designs, so as well as cleaning the air, such a device can help to boost your room aesthetic. Or perhaps a modern air purifier like the Medify MA-45, which will look very futuristic on your wall.
My Experience Installing a Wall-Mounted Air Purifier: an Experiment
Every wall-mountable air purifier I have had the opportunity to use so far comes with instructions and the necessary accessories (screws, inserts, etc.) needed for wall mounting.
However, as I did not want to destroy and drill the wall, I resorted to other ways of fixing the device to the wall. In the following, I will describe the process of installing the Aura Air air purifier using double-sided adhesive tape (remember, very strong adhesive tape). If anything, the walls in the room remained intact.
Procedure:
Step 1
You need to buy the strongest adhesive tape that can withstand the most weight and is the most resistant. 3M makes very high-quality tapes, so you may want to look at this manufacturer.
Step 2
You need to clean the device you will hang on the wall thoroughly, I suggest wiping it down with a mild degreaser.
Step 3
You should also clean the wall on which you are going to hang the appliance; there should be no dust on the wall, and the wall should not be greasy.
Step 4
Then, stick the tape to as large a surface as possible on your air purifier. In the picture, you can see how much tape I used when gluing the Aura Air.
Step 5
The last step is to peel off the foil from the other side of the tape and place the unit on the previously prepared wall.
I kept the Aura Air taped to the wall for more than two weeks, which is a confirmation that this method works, but I would suggest that you think carefully about this method of hanging the device and doing so at your own risk.
In addition to the Aura Air, I have also mounted the IKEA FÖRNUFTIG air purifier on the wall using adhesive tape. This device is a little heavier but also has a larger surface area, so I used more tape. See it in action in the picture below.

I recommend everyone to use this installation method at their own risk. However, I would always prefer the safer way, which is to fix the air purifier with the screws.
FAQ on Best Wall-mounted Air Purifiers
What are the benefits of a wall-mounted air purifier?
In my opinion, the most significant advantage of a wall-mounted air purifier is that it saves space and is slightly more efficient than floor-mounted units. In addition, a wall-mounted device is difficult for small children to access, so you can be sure that the settings will not be changed or the device switched off.
Which is the best wall-mounted air purifier?
The RabbitAir MinusA2 is definitely the best wall-mounted air purifier. It is a modern, reliable air purifier with superior 6-stage filtration technology.
Is it difficult to install a wall-mounted air purifier?
Almost every air purifier that can be hung on the wall comes with the necessary materials to hang it. But remember that you need to have a drill to drive dowels into the wall. This is not necessarily complicated, and I would compare the process to installing a picture frame on the wall.
Final Conclusion
In fact, perhaps the most significant advantage and the main reason for buying a wall-mounted air purifier is space-saving.
I have listed the best air purifiers you can hang on the wall. If we take a closer look, the devices on the list are almost identical to all the other air purifiers. The only difference that sets them apart is the possibility of hanging them on the wall.
If you are looking for a high-quality, extremely efficient, and reliable air purifier that you would like to hang on the wall, then my first favorite would definitely be the RabbitAir MinusA2. Apart from this air purifier, I would recommend the Medify MA-35 as an also great choice and an equally high-quality and reliable air purifier.
If you have any questions or concerns about any of the devices on this list or the article, please comment in the comments box below.
Can you comment on medify air’s horrible warranty process and reliability of the wall mounted unit? Seemed exactly like what I wanted but appears that it has some serious flaws and that medify has a really horrible warranty process
I have reached out to Medify Air several times and have always received very helpful responses. However, I agree that Medify warranty policy isn’t the best one. Mostly because to obtain and activate the warranty, you must subscribe to replacement filters directly through the Medify website, which isn’t cheap at all.
