Highlighted Features

The Levoit Core 300 and Xiaomi Mi 3H contain many features, which I will describe below. I would like to mention that both devices are ozone-free and have a multitude of advanced options. However, the Xiaomi Mi 3H is still more generous and offers a more diverse range of options.

Xiaomi Mi 3H Vs Levoit Core 300 - Control Buttons
Xiaomi Mi 3H Vs Levoit Core 300 – Control Buttons

The Levoit Core 300 is controlled by touch buttons on the control panel at the top of the device, while the Xiaomi Mi 3H is used with a single button located on the front of the device or via a smartphone app. Xiaomi can also connect to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

Filter Reset Indicator

A filter reset indicator is an indispensable option in today’s air purifiers.

It is, therefore, to be expected that air purifiers have this option.

The Levoit Core 300 filter reset indicator lights up when it’s time to change the filter.

In Xiaomi Mi 3h, you will be notified on the screen when it is time to change the filter, but you will receive information about filter usage on display whenever you start the air purifier. In addition, you can check this information at any time in the smartphone app.

Child Lock

Levoit Core 300 and Xiaomi Mi 3H have a child lock feature, a great option, especially if you have young children in the environment and if you want to protect the device from accidental shutdowns or switching modes.

The Levoit Core 300 child lock is activated directly on the control panel. In contrast, the Xiaomi Mi 3H child lock is activated in the smart app.

Timer

Both devices have a timer option, which is a great feature to set the time when the machine should stop with air filtration. This is particularly useful for the Core 300, which does not have the fashion of a smart app or auto mode.

The Levoit Core 300 timer can be adjusted to work for 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours, or 8 hours. You can set the Xiaomi Mi 3h timer however you want because the smart app allows you to set the timer for any time.

Smart Sensor

Xiaomi Mi 3H uses a smart sensor that will measure the air quality in real-time to dictate the options related to the work on the device. The smart sensor’s data can be seen directly on display in the form of PM 2.5 particles.

In addition, the indicator around the start button will glow with a different color related to the current air quality in the room.

Auto Mode

Auto mode is an option that is only available on the Xiaomi Mi 3H.

When on Auto Mode, the device automatically switches the fan speed based on the current indoor air pollution.

Smart App

Xiaomi can connect to a smart app that opens up new additional possibilities to control the device. I have described the process of connecting to the smart app and explained the available options in the Xiaomi Mi 3H review.

Filter

Both devices use 3-stage filtration, which is contained from a pre-filter, True HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter.

Xiaomi Mi 3H Vs Levoit Core 300 – Filters Comparison

The most significant difference in the filters in these two products is the size. The Xiaomi Mi 3H uses more than double the filter as the Core 300. Because of that, filters in Xiaomi last longer and are much harder to get dirty.

The Levoit Core 300 and Xiaomi Mi 3H offer the option to buy special-purpose replacement filters, so you’ll be able to purchase antibacterial filters that are specifically designed to fight bacteria.

How do I change filters on these two devices?

The filters on the Xiaomi Mi 3H change on average between 6-12 months. The Levoit Core 300 filters change on average between 6-8 months.

Both devices use a filter reset indicator, so you won’t have to worry when it’s time to change the filter; the device will tell you.

Noise

The Xiaomi Mi 3H has more fan speeds than the Levoit Core 300, so it’s much easier to find the speed that suits you and what’s best for you.

Both devices use sleep mode, which needs to be highly commended. The sleep mode noise is almost identical, with the Xiaomi being much quieter at the first speed.

At maximum speed, the noise is almost the same. Basically, both devices are well optimized, but the Xiaomi is generally quieter. I think users will find it easier to adjust the noise level in the Xiaomi air purifier thanks to the more available speeds to choose from.

Below you can see a table with the noise level for both devices.

Product Noise Range (dBA)
Xiaomi Mi 3H 40.9 – 65.4 dBA
Levoit Core 300 40.7 – 64.9 dBA

Performance

The Xiaomi Mi 3H is an air purifier designed for rooms up to 484 sq. ft, while the Levoit Core 300 is designed for rooms up to 219 sq. ft.

Xiaomi Mi 3H Vs Levoit Core 300 – Performances Comparison

I tested these two devices in the way all air purifiers have been tested so far. However, due to the different room coverage, the rooms I tested them in are different.

320 sq. ft. Room Test

In the first test, a room size of 320 sq. ft. I tested both devices. The tests were run separately.

After 60 minutes of working at the highest speed, the Xiaomi Mi 3H improved the air quality by about 95%, while the Levoit Core 300 under the same conditions and at the same duration improved the air quality by about 92%.

Although Xiaomi did much better on this test, there isn’t much of a big difference. Still, basically, both devices did fantastic results.

* Data measuring time is 60 minutes.

Note that this room is larger than the recommended dimensions for the Levoit Core 300 and smaller than the recommended dimensions for the Xiaomi Mi 3H.

Other Tests

In addition to the test described above, I tested these two devices in some other rooms.

The Levoit Core 300 in a room size of 194 sq. ft. improved air for about 93% in only 60 minutes of work, at the highest speed.

The Xiaomi Mi 3H I put in a 560 sq. ft. room, and just in 60 minutes running at the greatest speed, it improved air quality by about 90%.

And in these tests, both devices did an excellent performance.

Operating Costs

Xiaomi Mi 3H air purifier power is only 38W, while the Levoit core is 45W. Honestly, I didn’t expect the Levoit Core 300 to use more watts than Xiaomi, mainly because of the size and even because of the airflow. This comparison just tells us that Xiaomi is using a better, more reliable, more powerful, and perfectly optimized motor.

Suppose you leave Xiaomi to work at its highest speed, 24 hours a month. In that case, the device spends about $3.4 of electricity. In comparison, the Levoit Core 300 under the same conditions and at the same time costs about $3.8. Basically, neither of these two devices will increase your monthly electricity bill.

Product Wattage Range (W)
Xiaomi Mi 3H 0.9 – 39W
Levoit Core 300 0.8 – 43.5W

Regarding the price of replacement filters, the replacement filters for the Xiaomi Mi 3H cost more than double the Core 300 filters, but you will change the Xiaomi filter once per year, while the Core 300 is changed on average 2 times per year.

What Air Purifier is a Better Choice?

I think we can also take other parameters to choose the winner in this fight, such as the device’s purpose and used room size because the Xiaomi Mi 3H is designed for much larger rooms.

However, with this difference, the much better performance, the much quieter device, and the indescribably many advanced options are the reasons why the Xiaomi MI 3H is the better choice to buy. It fits great into any ambiance; thanks to the auto mode and good performance at all speeds, you’ll use it in smaller rooms.

The Levoit Core 300 is also an excellent choice to buy. If you have any chance, opt for this model; I can assure you that you won’t make a mistake, especially if you’re looking for a smaller, slightly more affordable device that is easy to maintain.
