Okaysou AirMic4S Air Purifier – Hands-on Review & Tests

A budget air purifier with insufficient airflow covering rooms of up to 130 sq. ft. It lacks smart features, it showed poor performance, and may not be the best option to buy.

Important note: It seems that Okaysou isn’t in the business anymore. The website is down; replacement filters are impossible to get, so I can’t recommend its air purifiers anymore.

RATING

The Okaysou AirMic4S is one of the first air purifiers I have tested, and which review I published on the Air Purifier First website and YouTube channel.

At that time, it was a good budget air purifier. However, over time, and with the evolution of the market, much better options became available for purchase.

Today, I can’t recommend the Okaysou AirMic4S anymore. In fact, I can’t recommend any of Okaysou’s air purifiers as the company has gone out of business.

So, without hesitation, I would recommend other portable air purifiers that are significantly better than the Okaysou AirMic4S. Specifically, I want to highlight the Shark HP102 and the Levoit Core 300S.

I’m not going to remove this review, as some users might still find it useful. So, if you are interested in reading a comprehensive review of this Okaysou air purifier, please continue scrolling.

What we really like?

  • The Okaysou AirMic4S is a budget air purifier that is easy to maintain and uses affordable filters.

  • I like its blue ambient light feature, which is a great addition if you plan to use it in a bedroom or any similar room.

What could be better?

  • Okaysou company is out of business, their website is down, and replacement filters aren’t available to buy.

  • It made under-average results in performance tests, covers rooms of just 120 sq. ft., and doesn’t have sufficient power to clean the air in average rooms.

  • It’s not good for neutralizing bad VOCs, smoke, or any smells.

  • It lacks smart features, making it much harder to control in comparison with some other air purifiers in the same price range.

Okaysou is a new company on the market that makes excellent air purifiers. AirMic4s is not their first model nor the last one. They have other types of air purifiers, and they like to cover as many customers as they can with their products.

Okaysou AirMic4S Air Purifiar Review

Okaysou AirMic4S has a beautiful compact design. Since it is a small air purifier, you can easily transport it from room to room. It has a two-stage H13 Duo-Filter. The filter is a medical-grade HEPA filter that can remove 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns. With such amazing properties, asthma and patients who suffer from allergies can finally breathe with full lungs.

If you set it on the first speed, you can still have a good night’s sleep, and if you use it in the nursery room, the baby will not be woken up by their purifier.

How We Tested the Okaysou AirMic4S?

1. For the filter efficiency testing, we used the Temtop LKC-1000S laser particle meter, which measures PM2.5 (µg/m3), PM10 (µg/m3), Particles (per/L), and HCHO (mg/m3) in the air, and also calculates the AQI.

2. We placed the Okaysou AirMic4S in two separate performance tests, one in a 120 sq. ft. (11 m²) room and the other in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room. Then, we recorded the initial air quality values using the Temtop laser particle meter and let the Okaysou AirMic4S run at maximum speed.

3. After 60 minutes, we measured the new values using the Temtop laser particle meter and saved the data.

4. Next, we placed the Okaysou AirMic4S in a glass box, which we then filled with smoke. Then, we measured how much time was needed for the air purifier to remove all the smoke from the box.

5. Using a special noise measurement tool, we tested the air purifier’s noise level at all speeds. We measured the noise level on the dBA scale.

6. Finally, we measured the power usage at all speeds using an energy meter, after which we calculated how much it would cost to use the device at a particular fan speed for one month. For reference, we used an energy price of $0.12 per kWh.

Performance – Particle Removal Tests

I have personally tested this model in various rooms and would like to share the results with you. Keep in mind that these were not laboratory tests; these were tests made by me in my home.

I have tested Okaysou AirMic4S in different rooms, smaller and bigger than the recommended size. As evident, the most significant performance is in smaller rooms, and in that room, the air was filtered very fast.

In bigger rooms, the air is still filtered but not as fast as in smaller rooms. In every room, the air purifier worked for one hour.

Testing in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) Room

In a room 194 sq.ft., the air quality was 85% better after one hour of running AirMic4S.

Particle Removal Test - Comparison

Comparison between the Okaysou AirMic4s and its competitors in particle removal tests in a 194 sq. ft. (18 m²) room.

AQI dropped from 78 to 12, which is a good result considering that this room is larger than the recommended 130 square feet room.

# Starting Baseline After 60min
PM 2.5 58 µg/m3 8.6 µg/m3
PM 10 81.2 µg/m3 12.1 µg/m3
Particles 84115 per/L 12574 per/L
AQI 78 12

Testing in a 120 sq. ft. (11 m²) Room

In one hour in room 120 sq.ft., the air purifier improved the air quality by 83%. The reason why it didn’t improve it for more is that this room had much cleaner air from the start, and the AQI was reduced from 35 to 6.

# Starting Baseline After 60min
PM 2.5 24.2 µg/m3 4.4 µg/m3
PM 10 34 µg/m3 6.2 µg/m3
Particles 35174 per/L 6460 per/L
AQI 35 6

Testing in a 230 sq. ft. (21.5 m²) Room

As I already mentioned, I tested the device in different room sizes. In this case, the room was 230 sq.ft., but this time, I did a slightly different test.

It was a one-week test in a living room. I did this test because there was always somebody who smoked or just spent time there, and that just added to the pollution level.

If you decide to use Okaysou AirMic4S air purifier in a larger room than 130 square feet, don’t expect wonders. This air purifier works best in small rooms.

The air purifier was struggling, and I wasn’t able to clean the room. However, when the smoker left the room, the air purifier was capable of cleaning it up in 2h.

Okaysou AirMic4S has good performances, and of course, I recommend it if we talk about that side, but the filter I have got with a device had a bad chemical smell, and I am not sure if that was just in my case or more people experienced it.

If the smell is something that all the Okaysou AirMic4S filters have when you buy a device, you may want to check some other air purifiers I have also tested and whose filters didn’t have any smell. You may want to see the review of Levoit Core 300, which also has a larger filter than Okaysou, and it might be a better choice for you. Besides, the Winix 5500-2 is a high-end device like the Coway Mighty, which you can get for a slightly larger amount of money.

Noise Levels Test

When Okaysou AirMic4S operates on the first speed, you can sleep without a problem because there is basically no noise pollution. However, if you run the air purifier at the highest speed, I am afraid you won’t get much sleep.

Noise Levels Test - Comparison

This chart compares the noise levels at the minimum and maximum speeds of the Okaysou AirMic4s air purifier with those of its competitors.

I have tested all the fan speeds and measured noise pollution with a particular tool that measures noise level. Results can vary slightly per test because they also depend on other factors like room size and ambient.

Below, you can see how much noise AirMic4S makes on each speed.

Speed Value (dBA)
Speed 1 45.7 dBA
Speed 2 50.0 dBA
Speed 3 57.5 dBA

Operating Costs – Power Usage Test & Filter Price

Operating costs are meager. Okaysou AirMic4S uses only 25W when running at maximum speed. In 24h on the max speed, you will pay 2.2$ monthly. It will use 0.6Kwh in one month, and if the power cost in your state is 0.12$, that totals 2.2$ per month. In standby mode, it uses only 5W.

Okaysou AirMic4S consumes tiny amounts of energy, and because of that, you should not bother with extra costs on the power bill because there won’t be any.

Monthly Power Cost – Comparison

Comparison of the monthly power cost at maximum speed between the Okaysou AirMic4s and some of its competitors.

The highest maintenance cost is filter replacement, which needs to be done every 6 to 8 months. Operating costs are really affordable, even if the filter needs to be replaced periodically. Still, the price of a new filter is also affordable, so that won’t represent any additional problem with your budget.

Filtration Technology

I have only tested the Medical Grade H13 Original Filter, which I got by default in the box. I hope that, in the near future, I will have the opportunity to put my hands on other advanced filters that Okaysou offers.

Okaysou AirMic4S Replacement Filter

Medical Grade H13 Original Filter is one of the four Okaysou filters for AirMic4S, which traps dust, pollen, pet hair, and dander as well eliminates pet odor and other unwanted odors, including smoke.

Check Price On Amazon

Still, the original filter Okaysou AirMic4S uses has a True HEPA H13 filter, which is a medical-grade filter. That means that no bacteria will grow on the filter. The original filter of AirMic4S also uses an active carbon filter to remove bad smell odors. Okaysou has an Ultra Filter that is used as a pre-filter. The Ultra Filter is washable, and you will need to wash it every 2 to 4 weeks because its main job is to grab large pollutants like pet dander and hair. These large pollutants can clog the filter easily, and because of that, it is smart to clean it periodically.

The whole filter is spherically shaped, which gives it an additional airflow. With higher airflow, the air purifier will have higher ratings on the CADR test. If you want to see a review of a brand-new air purifier that uses washable filters, you have to check the Airdog X3 review I did.

How to Replace Okaysou AirMic4S Filter?

You should change the filters every 6 to 8 months. Replacing the filter is easy, and everyone can do it. Below, I will show you how to change the Okaysou AirMic4S filter in 5 easy steps.

Total Time: 5 minutes.

Remove the bottom cover

Turn the air purifier upside down. Open the bottom by twisting it counterclockwise, just as the arrows on the bottom represents.

Design

Okaysou AirMic4S has a premium outlook thanks to a smooth white color with black details. Maybe on the touch, plastic material will feel as it is low-priced, but it is durable enough to make the air purifier last for years. There are all-powerful fans on the top that suck the air quite effectively from the bottom. At the bottom is a filter that is a bit larger than at similar products.

Touch Buttons

What makes the Okaysou AirMic4S air purifier great is the fantastic touch buttons panel. Touch buttons are responsive, sensitive in touch, and offer many functions. However, there are no advanced options to control AirMic4S because there are no sensors that can monitor the air in real time.

Let’s check some options that you can choose and control with the touch buttons panel.

On/OFF Button

With a simple push, you can turn it on or off. As soon as you click the ON button, you will hear a beep, which is a signal that the air purifier is starting. Every time you start Okaysou AirMic4S, it will start on first speed because this model doesn’t have a memory to save desired settings and will always start with default settings, also, the ambient light and panel light will be at a maximum.

Sleep Mode and Three-Fan Speed

As already mentioned on the first fan speed, the AriMic4S purifier is quiet, and you can sleep without interference while the air purifier is working, but you can choose sleep mode if you want a good night’s sleep. By pressing sleep mode, you will lock all the settings except the on/off button, and all the light will shut down, and the fan speed will be set at a first speed.

On the other hand, if you want to remove pollution from the room at the fastest speed, then you can choose the second speed or third speed, which is the fastest speed this air purifier can run.

Timer Function

You can set the AirMic4S to turn off after 2, 4 or 8 hours. The timer function is simple to use; by pressing a timer button, you can switch between how long the air purifier will work, and the air purifier will automatically shut down at the desired time.

Dimmer Button

The dimmer button is also a useful feature you will use to adjust the ambient light of the AirMic4S. As you can dim the ambient light to the desired level, you will enjoy watching movies with the magnificent atmosphere this device will create.

Filter Reset Indicator

AirMic4S has a filter reset indicator that will remind you when it is time to change the filter. The light on the filter reset indicator will appear in approximately 6 to 8 months. After you replace the filter, you need to press and hold the filter button for three seconds so the timer resets.

Size and Weight

The weight of Okaysou AirMic4S is only 7.95 pounds. Thanks to its small size (8.7 x 8.7 x 11.9 inches), you can put this air purifier on a night table or any other small table you have in your house. Small, compact air purifiers like Okaysou AirMic4S are portable, and you can easily use them in more than one room.

What You Get In The Box

In the package, you will get an air purifier, one Original Ultra-Duo H13 Filter, and a user manual. Accordingly, AirMic4S has everything you need for clean air.

Features Overview

Okaysou AirMic4S has all the features you need for clean air. It has features that will help you run it the way you want.

3 Stage Filtration

The true HEPA filter is the best filtration method when talking about air purifiers that can remove allergens from the air. This Okaysou model also has an Ultra Filter (pre-filter), which can remove heavier particles from the air. You can clean the Ultra Filter every 2 to 4 weeks to keep it clean and working at optimal performance. It also uses a carbon filter that is going to remove bad odor.

Sleep Mode

I have already mentioned that the Okaysou AirMic4S purifier has a sleep mode, and you can use it in the bedroom without a hassle. When you choose a sleep mode, the AirMic4S starts working at a first speed, but it won’t disturb you during the night because the first speed is quiet enough.

Three Fan Speeds

The first speed is a quiet one, and the second and third are used for fast air purification. The third speed is quite loud, and you probably won’t like it if you are doing something in the room that requires peace.

Nightlight

AirMic4s emits light, which can be adjusted with a button. You can use it at night if you don’t like to sleep in the completely dark.

Change Filter Indicator

The change filter indicator is one of the most excellent features Okaysou AirMic44 has. You won’t need to guess when is the time to change the filter. Once the light starts flashing, you should change the filter. In most cases, the light will turn on in 6 to 8 months.

Customized Medical-Grade Filters

By default, the Okaysou AirMic4S purifier is delivered with a Medical Grade H13 Original Filter. However, if you have other needs, you can choose new filters. Okaysou gave you three additional filters at your disposal: Medical Grade H13 Germ Defense Customized Filter, Medical Grade H13 Toxin Absorber Customized Filter, and Medical Grade H13 Odor Remover Customized Filter.

Five Years Warranty

Okaysou company gives a four-year warranty for AirMic4S. However, if you register your product on the Okaysou website by following the instructions on the site, you will get an additional one-year warranty.
