Today’s comparison is all about the Levoit Vital 200S and the Core 600S air purifiers. These are outstanding devices with plenty of smart features, high-quality filtration technology, and excellent performance.
The Levoit Core 600S has a higher CADR, making it ideal for large rooms up to 635 sq. ft. (59 m²). On the other hand, the Levoit Vital 200S is designed for smaller rooms, covering spaces up to 380 sq. ft. (35 m²). Both devices clean the air 4.8 times per hour in their recommended room sizes.
The VeSync smart app is available on both air purifiers, offering many new and advanced features once connected. Both the Vital 200S and Core 600S use three-stage filtration technology. The filter in the Core 600S is cylindrical, hollow through the middle, and placed inside the bottom part, while the filters in the Vital 200S are rectangular and placed in the front.
I have tested both and published separate reviews already. This time, I will compare their performance, noise level, power usage, and features in-depth to determine which one is the better buying option.
Our Verdict
The Levoit Vital 200S and Core 600S are two fantastic air purifiers and definitely among the best we have tested.
Both devices are ones I would recommend to anyone, but I would give a slight advantage to the Vital 200S, as it’s a bit cheaper to buy, has a better quality filter, offers plenty of smart options, uses an innovative pre-filter, and performed extraordinarily well in our performance tests. It’s also quieter than the Core 600S.
However, the Core 600S would be my top and only choice if I needed an air purifier for a large room.

Particle Removal Test – Comparison
When speaking of performance, the first thing I want to point out is that the Levoit Core 600S has much larger coverage, which is why it’s hard to compare these two side-by-side in the same room sizes.
The Levoit Core 600S covers rooms of 635 sq. ft. (59 m²), while the Vital 200S covers rooms of 380 sq. ft. (35 m²).
However, among the many tests we ran on these two, we also tested them in a 560 sq. ft. (52 m²) room, which is a bit smaller than the recommended dimensions for the Core 600S but also a bit larger than the recommended for the Vital 200S.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Levoit Vital 200S and Levoit Core 600S in a 560 sq. ft. (52 m²) room and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
The Levoit Core 600S achieved a 4% better result in this test, which is expected due to its higher airflow.
On the other hand, I noticed after using them both for some time in my house that the Levoit Vital 200S works better when your main concern is odor neutralization.
Overall, we can conclude that these two performed very similarly and that their efficiency was almost identical, but I would give a slight advantage to the Core 600S if you’re looking for an air purifier for large rooms.
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
It’s evident that the Core 600S is a much larger air purifier with a larger filter and more powerful airflow.
Accordingly, I expected that it would remove all the smoke from the smoke box much faster than its opponent, the Vital 200S.
The Core 600S needed just 9 seconds to remove all the smoke from the box, which is the fastest among all the air purifiers we tested. On the other hand, the Vital 200S needed 15 seconds, which is also a great result but almost twice as slow as its opponent.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
Just as I expected the Core 600S to be much faster in the smoke test due to its larger airflow and bigger motor, I also expected it to be much louder than the Vital 200S.
Noise Levels - Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Levoit Vital 200S and Levoit Core 600S air purifiers.
At the lowest speed, the Levoit Core 600S produces a sound level of 43.9 dBA, while the Vital 200S produces a sound level of 41 dBA, which is 2.9 dBA quieter. A similar situation is at the maximum speed: the Vital 200S produces a sound level of 62.2 dBA, while the Core 600S produces a sound level of 68.5 dBA, making it one of the loudest air purifiers we tested.
In case you don’t fancy reading data on charts, I prepared a table comparing noise levels at all speeds so you can easily compare them.
Fan Speed | Levoit Core 600S (dBA) | Levoit Vital 200S (dBA) |
---|---|---|
Sleep Mode | 43.9 dBA | 41 dBA |
Speed 1 (Low) | 46.8 dBA | 44.4 dBA |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 51.2 dBA | 45.7 dBA |
Speed 3 (High) | 58.7 dBA | 57.9 dBA |
Speed 4 (Turbo) | 68.5 dBA | 62.2 dBA |
Considering the noise levels at all speeds, we can easily conclude that the Vital 200S is much quieter at all speeds.
Operating Costs – Comparison
Regarding power usage, I must say that I’m truly surprised that the Levoit Vital 200S and Core 600S use almost identical power at their max speeds.
So, if you were to leave these air purifiers running at max speed, 24 hours daily, for a period of one month, your electric bill would increase by about $4.22 for both air purifiers. Considering their CADR, I must say that the motor of the Core 600S is much better optimized for power usage.
Monthly Power Consumption Cost Comparison
Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Levoit Vital 200S and Levoit Core 600S air purifiers at all fan speeds.
The Levoit Core 600S is a lower-power consumer at the third speed (high mode), but at all other speeds, except at the max, the Vital 200S uses less power.
Besides power usage, which is overall lower on the Core 600S, there is also the cost of replacement filters. In both cases, you have to replace the filter approximately once every year, and you will need to allocate a few more dollars for the replacement filter of the Core 600S.
Fan Speed | Levoit Core 600S (W + $/month) | Levoit Vital 200S (W + $/month) |
---|---|---|
Standby | 1.2W ($0.1) | 1.4W ($0.12) |
Sleep Mode | 4.1W ($0.35) | 3.5W ($0.3) |
Speed 1 (Low) | 7.3W ($0.63) | 5.8W ($0.5) |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 10.9W ($0.95) | 7.9W ($0.69) |
Speed 3 (High) | 20.4W ($1.78) | 26.3W ($2.3) |
Speed 4 (Turbo) | 48.2W ($4.22) | 48.2W ($4.22) |
Overall, the Levoit Core 600S is just slightly more affordable to maintain, especially due to its better-optimized motor and lower power usage.
If you have dogs, and you’re not worried about odor and only getting an air purifier because your dog reverse sneezes a lot, would you recommend the 200S or 600? 200 has the better filter, but 600 is larger? I have a 750 sqft home
I would go with the Levoit Core 600S for a 750 sq. ft. room.
