Aura Air Vs Alen FLEX – Is Innovation the Key?

They are two totally different air purifiers, and their only similarity is the room coverage. How do you decide which one is the better buying option?

If you are looking for an innovative air purifier, then Aura Air is one I would suggest you take a look at! But, if you are looking for a reliable air purifier that uses trusted and tested filtration technology, then the Alen FLEX may be a good choice.

However, for anyone deciding between these two, this comparison will be extremely helpful, mainly because I will compare all the specifications, test results, and characteristics of these two air purifiers, and in the end, I will choose the one which is, in my opinion, a better buying option.

Aura Air is an innovative air purifier intended for rooms up to 325 sq. ft. (30 m²), while the Alen FLEX is a classic air purifier that covers rooms up to 300 sq. ft. (28 m²). They both clean the air 4.8 times in one hour in their suggested room sizes. Both air purifiers have premium build quality, and I must say that I like both designs.

What I don’t like about Aura Air is that you have to connect it to the smart app if you want to use it, which makes it difficult to use the device, even more so if you run into a problem while trying to connect the air purifier to the smart app. On the other hand, the Alen FLEX isn’t a smart air purifier, so it doesn’t have the ability to connect with a smart app or remote controller.

Our Verdict

Entrepreneurs like to say that every innovation is expensive, and that’s why Aura Air is, in my opinion, a bit overpriced. Apart from the price, I don’t like the fact that you have to connect the air purifier to the smart app if you want to use it.

Because of these reasons, and because of better performance, quieter operation, and higher quality filters, I chose the Alen FLEX as the better buying option.

Although I picked the Alen FLEX as the winner in this comparison, you can also go with the Aura Air if budget isn’t a concern. It’s an interesting, innovative, and unusual air purifier that will significantly improve the air quality in your room.

Particle Removal Test – Comparison

These two air purifiers cover almost identical room sizes. The Alen FLEX covers rooms of up to 300 sq. ft. (28 m²), while the Aura Air covers rooms of 325 sq. ft. (30 m²).

This information makes it easier to test them in the same room size and compare the results. I placed these two air purifiers in separate tests in a 560 sq. ft. (52 m²) room and measured their performance.

Particle Removal Tests - Comparison

We placed the Aura Air and Alen FLEX in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.

In 60 minutes of operating at maximum speed, the Alen FLEX managed to improve the air quality by 94%, while the Aura Air improved the air quality by about 78%, which is a drastically lower result.

It’s true that the Alen FLEX uses higher quality filters, but since the Aura Air has a slightly larger coverage, I expected it to achieve a much better result than it did.

All in all, the Alen FLEX is the real winner here and a much better-performing air purifier than the Aura Air.

Smoke Box Test – Comparison

Considering their specifications, the Alen FLEX and Aura Air seem equally powerful. However, we confirmed this in many tests.

The key factors for the faster performance of the Alen FLEX in this test are probably the much better filter and much better airflow.

The Alen FLEX needed 32 seconds to remove all the smoke from the box, while the Aura Air needed 52 seconds.

This difference is significant and further confirms the Alen FLEX’s superiority.
