Blueair and Hathaspace are brands primarily focused on producing air purifiers, which is why they produce high-quality devices and why many consumers recognize them. In this article, I will compare the Blueair 211+ and Hathaspace HSP001.
The Blueair 211+ covers rooms up to 540 sq. ft. (50 m²), while the Hathaspace HSP001 covers rooms up to 250 sq. ft. (23 m²). Not only does the Blueair cover larger rooms, but it is also a much bigger device, and you should keep that in mind before deciding where to place it.
What I like about Blueair is its minimalism and unique design, while in Hathaspace, I like its variety of advanced options. Blueair uses a four-stage filtration technology, while Hathaspace uses a five-stage filtration technology.
I compared these two air purifiers’ performance, noise levels, operating costs, and other characteristics, then decided on the one that is, in my opinion, the better buying option.
Our Verdict
This was a tough battle, and deciding a winner wasn’t easy, especially because these are two great air purifiers with not much difference in performance.
Frankly, I favor the Blueair 211+ much more, so I chose it as the better buying option over the Hathaspace. It has slightly better performance, unique design principles, a washable pre-filter, and it covers larger rooms.
The Hathaspace HSP001 is also a great air purifier, but I strongly believe that the Blueair has a bit more to offer.

Particle Removal Test – Comparison
We tested these two air purifiers in a few different room sizes.
Although they have different CADR ratings and cover different room sizes, we tested them both in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room.
In this test, the Hathaspace HSP001 managed to improve the air quality by 91% in just 60 minutes while operating at maximum speed. On the other hand, the Blueair 211+ did much better, improving the air quality in the same room and under the same conditions by about 96%.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Hathaspace HSP001 and Blueair 211+ in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
This is a very good result, especially for Blueair. However, it’s important to note that it covers rooms up to 540 sq. ft. (50 m²), which is much larger than the 250 sq. ft. (23 m²) that the Hathaspace HSP001 covers.
Besides these tests, we evaluated how these two devices deal with odor neutralization. I must say that I’m not 100% satisfied with the results. They did a great job neutralizing light odors (such as cooking odors) but performed poorly in neutralizing heavy odors.
Overall, the Blueair 211+ showed much better performance, which is expected given its larger filters and greater coverage (CADR).
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
It’s really hard to beat the Blueair 211+ in the smoke test. It removed all the smoke in just 11 seconds, which is one of the best results among all the air purifiers tested.
The Hathaspace HSP001, on the other hand, needed 41 seconds to remove all the smoke, which is almost four times slower than the Blueair.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
The higher CADR allowed Blueair to achieve much better results in performance tests. However, this also makes it a much louder air purifier.
Both devices have only three fan speeds, and neither has a sleep mode, but both are very well optimized at the lowest speed. The Blueair 211+ produces a sound level of 43.9 dBA, while the Hathaspace HSP001 produces a sound level of 41.3 dBA.
Noise Levels - Comparison

It is obvious that the Hathaspace is much quieter, and trust me, this difference of about 2.6 dBA is very noticeable, especially if you use them in bedrooms.
Interestingly, at maximum speeds, the difference is even larger, again in favor of Hathaspace. This air purifier produces a sound level of only 49.3 dBA at maximum speed, while the Blueair 211+ produces a sound level of 59.7 dBA.

Additionally, the Blueair sounds somewhat strange at maximum speed, which makes it more than obvious that the Hathaspace HSP001 is much better optimized in terms of sound level.
Operating Costs – Comparison
What characterizes the Blue Pure series is a well-optimized motor with low power use. Although that’s the case with the smaller Blueair 411, it’s definitely not the case with its big brother, the Blueair 211+.
The Blueair 211+ uses an incredibly high motor power of 61W, which is much higher than the Hathaspace HSP001’s motor power of 45W.
Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison

Let’s imagine an example to illustrate this more vividly. If you were to use these two devices at maximum speed, 24 hours a day, for a month, your electricity bill would increase by about $4.29 for the Blueair and by about $3.05 for the Hathaspace air purifier.
This is a significant difference, especially when extended over a year.
In addition to these costs, there is also the cost of replacement filters, which are more expensive for the Blueair. However, the filter on the Blueair will last somewhat longer than that of the Hathaspace.

All in all, we can conclude that both of these devices are expensive to maintain, but the Hathaspace HSP001 is slightly more affordable.
