Levoit has released many great air purifiers lately, but I’m most excited about the two models in the Vital series: the Vital 100S and the Vital 200S.
They look almost identical; both use three-stage filtration technology, have plenty of smart features, and are among the best air purifiers we’ve tested.
The Vital 100S is a smaller version intended for rooms of up to 219 sq. ft. (20 m²), while the Vital 200S is a much larger one, with coverage of 380 sq. ft. (35 m²). Both will clean the air 4.8 times in one hour in the recommended room sizes.
Our Verdict
After analyzing all the specifications, test results, and other characteristics of these two models, it’s clear that the Levoit Vital 200S is a much better buying option, especially for mid-to-large room sizes.
It covers larger rooms, has a higher CADR, and uses larger filters. It also performed better in performance tests and is a bit quieter.
However, the Levoit Vital 100S is also a great option, and you won’t go wrong if you pick it either. But the Vital 200S can offer much more.
If you have any questions about these two Levoit models, please leave a comment in the section below.

Performance Test – Comparison
The Levoit Vital 200S has a much higher CADR of 245 CFM (416 m³/h), meaning it covers much larger rooms compared to the Vital 100S, which has a CADR of 141 CFM (240 m³/h).
We tested both models in various room sizes, but the most notable test was in a 320 sq. ft. (30 m²) room. The Levoit Vital 200S performed outstandingly, improving the air quality by 96%. Surprisingly, the Vital 100S also performed exceptionally well, improving the air quality by 94% in a room larger than its recommended dimensions.
Particle Removal Tests - Comparison
We placed the Levoit Vital 100S and Vital 200S in two separate tests and measured their performance using the Temtop laser particle meter.
These two are truly remarkable air purifiers, as confirmed in both the particle removal and smoke tests, which I will discuss in the next section.
However, I want to highlight that the Levoit Vital 200S’s higher CADR, larger filters, and higher airflow result in better overall performance compared to its smaller counterpart.
Additionally, both models excelled in neutralizing light odors, but the Vital 200S also showed excellent performance in neutralizing heavier odors such as cigarette smoke and VOCs.
Smoke Box Test – Comparison
Before we move on to the results of the smoke testing, I want to mention that both models use high-quality pellet-based activated carbon filters, though the Levoit Vital 200S filter contains significantly more pellets.
The Vital 200S needed only 15 seconds to remove all the smoke from the glass box, which is among the top results of all the tested air purifiers. On the other hand, the Levoit Vital 100S also did a great job by removing all the smoke in just 20 seconds.
It’s clear that the Levoit Vital 200S was faster in the smoke removal test, but both models performed amazingly. I would undoubtedly use any of them in the kitchen, office, or living room.
Noise Level Test – Comparison
I like the Levoit air purifiers because of the variety of fan speeds their models offer. Both the Vital 100S and Vital 200S have five different fan speeds, with the addition of an auto mode.
Also, both models have a sleep mode, making them ideal for use in bedrooms.
Noise Levels - Comparison
Comparison of noise levels at all fan speeds between the Levoit Vital 100S and Vital 200S air purifiers.
In sleep mode, the Levoit Vital 200S produces a sound of 41 dBA, while the Levoit Vital 100S is slightly quieter at 40.5 dBA.
However, the Levoit Vital 100S is a bit louder at maximum speed, producing a sound of 65.4 dBA, compared to the Vital 200S, which produces a sound of 62.2 dBA.
Fan Speed | Levoit Vital 100S (dBA) | Levoit Vital 200S (dBA) |
---|---|---|
Sleep Mode | 40.5 dBA | 41 dBA |
Speed 1 (Low) | 42.7 dBA | 44.4 dBA |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 51.6 dBA | 45.7 dBA |
Speed 3 (High) | 58.7 dBA | 57.9 dBA |
Speed 4 (Turbo) | 65.4 dBA | 62.2 dBA |
Both models use well-optimized motors, producing low noise levels, especially at the lowest speeds. I would definitely recommend them for bedrooms, kids’ rooms, or similar spaces where quiet work is essential.Overall, the Levoit Vital 200S is quieter and better optimized for noise reduction.
Operating Costs – Comparison
When we talk about operating costs, the first thing I want to compare is electricity consumption. The Levoit Vital 200S uses a 50W motor, while the smaller Vital 100S uses a 35W motor.
If we convert electricity consumption into dollars, we find that the Levoit Vital 200S would increase your electricity bill by about $4.22, while the Vital 100S would increase it by about $2.66. This calculation is based on using these two devices 24 hours a day at maximum speed for one month.
Monthly Power Consumption Cost - Comparison
Comparison of monthly power consumption costs for the Levoit Vital 100S and Vital 200S air purifiers at all fan speeds.
For costs at other speeds, please refer to the chart above.
In addition to electricity costs, there is also the cost of replacement filters, which are more expensive for the Vital 200S but also last somewhat longer.
Fan Speed | Levoit Vital 100S (W + $/month) | Levoit Vital 200S (W + $/month) |
---|---|---|
Standby | 1.5W ($0.13) | 1.4W ($0.12) |
Sleep Mode | 3.2W ($0.28) | 3.5W ($0.3) |
Speed 1 (Low) | 6.5W ($0.57) | 5.8W ($0.5) |
Speed 2 (Medium) | 10.5W ($0.92) | 7.9W ($0.69) |
Speed 3 (High) | 17.6W ($1.54) | 26.3W ($2.3) |
Speed 4 (Turbo) | 30.3W ($2.66) | 48.2W ($4.22) |
If we sum up all the costs, we can say that the Levoit Vital 100S is slightly more affordable to maintain than the Vital 200S, which is to be expected considering it is a much smaller air purifier.
Would love it if you addressed the ability of each model to address/remove mold.
Both remove airborne mold, but the Levoit Vital 200S is more efficient thanks to its larger filter and higher airflow.
